I’m Carey Martin, mom of two boys, newlywed (I found my soulmate! WAHOO!), all-around nice girl! My life has had many diverse paths, but none I’ve been as passionate about as this. My mission is to help others achieve health and happiness in their lives in much the same way I’m achieving it in mine. By sharing what I’m doing, it not only helps me, but it is helping so many others find their way on their own journey. At age 36, I am now in the best shape of my life and just getting started! Best shape physically, AND emotionally, spiritually, financially, etc. The exterior you see is a reflection of the wonderful growth happening everywhere else in my life and it FEELS GREAT!
“How did you get HERE, Carey?” Good question! I grew up athletic, but spent all my time studying music. I studied violin and piano, then added French horn and a whole bunch of other instruments along the way. I ended up getting both my Bachelors and Masters degrees in French Horn Performance. How’s that for a far cry from fitness? Was I good at it? Yes. Was I passionate about it? Not enough. So, I bopped around from job to job, trying on all sorts of careers, in the meantime having my first son. There I was, age 27, seeing myself become a “mooshy mom”, something I vowed to never be. I always imagined that “one day” I’d be really fit, and had some half-way efforts, but nothing that lasted. I didn’t really know what I was doing and didn’t have the money to get help or even a gym membership. I decided to get a jogger stroller and run. I could take my baby with me, and other than the cost of shoes, it was basically free. Of course, the overachiever in me ran so much I got injured. I got the physical therapy and training I needed and in the course sparked an intense interest in therapy modalities and preventative/therapeutic work. I really wanted to learn how to help people learn how to do this right from the start! Avoid injury, avoid burn-out, and have fun along the way! I got my massage therapy license, worked with some of the best physical therapists and trainers in Los Angeles, became a trainer myself, and went on to teach massage therapy, anatomy, physiology, and kinesiology.
My downfalls led me to my new passion and have helped me to really understand how to help others find health in their lives. Now, a mother of two, I’m finding that balance and I want to share it with you!
